Discovery Phases:

- Scanning: Shazzam probes to scan IP ranges and identify open ports on devices, determining which protocols are available. The goal is to discover which devices are active and what communication methods they support (e.g., TCP, UDP).
- Classification: Based on the open ports identified during scanning, classification probes are dispatched to determine the type of device (e.g., Linux server, network switch, database).
- Identification:This phase collects more detailed information about the device, such as hostname, operating system, and hardware details. Identification probes gather this data, and the information is then used to check for existing records in the CMDB. If a matching record is found, the existing entry is updated. If no match is found, a new Configuration Item (CI) is created in the CMDB.
- Exploration: This phase focuses on gathering in-depth information about the device, including installed software, running processes, and configuration details. Exploration probes are used to gather this data, which is then used to update the CMDB with more comprehensive information.
